Here are the tools, books, studies, apps, frameworks, and more that we have found extremely beneficial for personal discipleship, marriage, parenting, and spiritual growth.
Book: Mama Bear Apologetics

About: Apologetics for culturally relevant issues and how to empower your kids to challenge cultural lies and stand for Biblical truth.

My review: 5 stars
This book was a very comprehensive resource for me as a mother to truly understand how we got to where we are as a culture and how to combat and demolish the lies that destroy God’s truth. So many pages dog-eared for future reference and so many resources at the end of the book leave me with hope and encouragement that I can prepare myself and my kids for the messages culture will be sending their way (both subtly and overtly). Highly recommend this book for parents and grandparents!
Book: Mama Bear Apologetics Guide to Sexuality

About: Apologetics specifically to address the Biblical truth in contrast against the cultural attitude towards (and lies about) sexuality including gender theory, queer theory, critical race theory (CRT), and "genderbred person" ideology in the American public school curriculum.

My review: 5 stars
I couldn’t put this book down! Every chapter was relevant, thoroughly researched, engaging to read, and gave me clear insights as to the challenges facing my kids when they see faced with the sexualized messages they will inevitably be exposed to. The author leaves you with hope, challenges for us as the church to rise up and engage with culture, and all you need to demolish arguments, but not demolish the people who hold to these false ideologies. I am confident that through this resource and the other resources from Mama Bear Apologetics, I will be more equipped to face tough conversations with peers and my kids alike, bringing truth and grace into each discussion.
Book: Art of Parenting

About: This book is part of a larger Bible study program created by FamilyLife (a Cru Ministry), and also goes along with the movie "Like Arrows" (listed separately).
My review: 5 stars
So inspired by this book! It’s the Christian parenting book I’ve been looking for with Biblically based wisdom in a framework that can be used with raising kids in the current generation. It was helpful in assessing the things we’ve already started doing with our kids to lay a Biblical foundation in their upbringing and also gave us ideas to add to our toolkit as they continue to grow (future conversations to have, relationship goals, etc.). I especially loved the embassy example of how we can create homes that reflect the kingdom of God, expanding the idea of being Christ’s ambassadors outside of the home.
Movie: Like Arrows

About: This movie shows what a family of 4 kids looked like as they changed their parenting styles to reflect intentional godly teaching, training, and discipline and the impact it had on their children's lives into adulthood. It is meant to be the inspiration to jump into the "Art of Parenting" book study which gives you the tools you need to parent with Biblical intentionality and guide the character development of your children, releasing them like arrows from your quiver as they enter adulthood.
My review: This movie was a tear-jerker that really motivated my family to consider the responsibility we had to personally shepherd our children and not rely on the church or their school to lead the way. We left feeling convicted, hopeful, and encouraged by the movie and the "Art of Parenting" book.
Book: Losing It

About: This book is a concise, Biblically-based, actionable resource for the parent who struggles to overcome anger in their parenting.
My review: 5 stars
This short but very practical book helps give you a tangible step to take that points you to God’s word and helps you root out the issue at its source. If you follow the steps the author recommends, you will leave with a tool you can use and reference whenever you feel anger coming on and redirect your focus on God and His power to help you release the real emotion your anger is masking.
Book: Another Gospel

About: Want to know what Progressive Christianity is and what ideas it supports that are trying to take over current culture? This book is a tell-all from the inside and shows us how we've gotten here.

My review: 5 stars
This book was immensely helpful in understanding the Progressive Christian beliefs and how they differ from Historical Christianity, creating an inferior alternative faith system. Alisa carefully demonstrates that each question posed by the Progressive Christian movement has already been asked and answered; she synthesizes the extensive research she’s done, cites her sources with credibility, and provides additional resources for readers who want to dive deeper into specific topics, all with a tone of voice that feels like you’re talking to your best friend and confidant. I highly recommend this book for someone who is wanting to learn more about what Progressive Christianity is or someone who has questions about why it differs from true gospel found in Historic Christianity.
Program: Re|engage

About: Whether are a newlywed or have been married for decades, we want to help you build a strong, God-glorifying marriage. Through equipping classes, mentorship opportunities, and community groups, we seek to help marriages in every stage build a Christ-centered relationship.

My review: 5 stars
This program helped us identify areas of weakness in our marriage that could be improved by "fixing everyone inside the circle". Each week we had reading and homework that we discussed before our group meeting. The discussion questions in group helped us process how the private discussions went, but never forced us to reveal the private issues in our home. It is a wonderful program that has helped so many marriages and we highly recommend it for every married couple we know!
